30/11 GALERIA COSMO // EIXAMPLE

It's officially the time of the year when the daylight is gone by 3 PM and you end up having super grainy photos because you can't avoid an ISO under 10000.. I don't know how all the other blogger do that... I wish for nothing more than longer days and more sun! (Saying that right before going back to Germany, there is no real point....) // You might be wondering why I do another post about this café where they have these cute cups but no, it's a different one, Galeria Cosmo, and since I spent there so much (too much?) time during the last weeks I thought it deserves its own post. I like how the photos look so cosy, christmassy, just like the perfect place to go on a rainy, grey november day. // A big thank you to John who runs the blog Venture Spain, he offered me the opportunity to prepare a guest post on his blog featuring my favourite Barcelona shots! Jetzt ist offiziell die Zeit im Jahr, wo es gegen 3 Uhr nachmittags dunkel wird und es unmöglich ist, Fotos zu machen, die nicht super körnig dank unendlich hoher ISO Zahl sind... Keine Ahnung, wie all die Blogger das immer schaffen, gestochen scharfe Bilder zu machen wenn es draußen dunkel und grau ist?! Ein bisschen mehr Tageslicht Sonne, bitte!! (Zeitlich passend dieser Wunsch kurz bevor es zurück nach Deutschland geht....) // Nochmal ein Café-Post, sieht zwar so ähnlich aus wie im Café Cometa aber weil ich so so viel Zeit in den letzten Wochen in Galeria Cosmo verbracht hab, dachte ich, das hat auch einen Post verdient. Die Fotos zeigen ganz gut, warum ich mich immer sobald es dunkel und regnerisch draußen wurde hier Stunden verbracht habe. // Danke an John vom Blog Venture Spain, der mir die Möglichkeit gegeben hat, einen Gastpost für seinen Blog vorzubereiten, mit meinem liebsten Barcelona Bildern. 27/11 THE BUNKER

I have been to the bunkers before and didn't take my camera, you can imagine how upset I was considering this amazing view! Well, the second time I was prepared but of course, though the sun wasn't so the photos didn't turn out as I had hoped they would but still they give you quite a good impression what it is like to spend an evening up there. The Bunker del Carmel is on the top of a hill in a parc called "Parc del Guinardo", it's not that easy to get up there but it is worth all the pain (yes, pain, walking upstairs for about 30 mins. can cause pain...) But once you reach the top, sit on the edge of the roof dangeling your legs, the whole city spread out in front of you, it's hard to describe that feeling. The idea that you just sit there, at the top of a hill, watching the whole city, with all it's 1.6 million habitants and so many more tourists, so many stories, so much happening in that very moment, seems so crazy. How can we take every tiny little thing so seriously and worry so much when it's just a tiny part of a the whole thing? The atmosphere up there is kind of like that, people sitting together, talking quietly, facing the panoramic view... It's an unforgettable experience so make sure that you get there even if you have only 2 nights in Barcelona!

Ich war vorher schonmal da oben auf dem Bunker, hatte aber meine Kamera nicht dabeigehabt, nicht schwer vorzustellen wie mich das geärgert hatte. Dieses Mal hatte ich sie dann mit, und war vorbereitet, die Sonne leider nicht und das Licht war deswegen nicht so super. Trotzdem zeigen die Bilder ganz gut, wie es da oben ist. Der Bunker del Carmel ist ganz oben auf einem Hügel im Nordwesten der Stadt im "Parc del Guinardo", ist nicht ganz so einfach hinzukommen aber die Aussicht sind die 30 Minuten Treppensteigen auf jeden Fall wert. Oben anzukommen, auf der Kante des Daches zu sitzen und die Beine baumeln zu lassen, die endlose Stadt vor einem ausgebreitet - ein unglaubliches Gefühl. Der Gedanke, dass da in dieser riesigen Millionenstadt so viele Leute sind, so viel passiert, während man da oben wie abgeschnitten alles beobachten kann, ist einfach so verrückt. Ein bisschen so, wie wenn man im Flugzeug nachts über eine Stadt fliegt. Einfach wunderschön, und eine gute Erinnerung daran, dass man manchmal vielleicht nicht alles so wichtig und ernst nehmen sollte, es ist doch meistens nur ein winziger Teil von etwas ganz Großem. Wie auch immer, ich will jetzt hier nicht so melancholisch werden, eigentlich wollte ich nur sagen: wenn ihr mal in Barcelona seid haltet euch einen Abend für den Bunker frei, ihr werdet es nicht bereuen!

24/11 PAVELLÓ MIES VAN DER ROHE

So, I started my cultural program some time ago before considering I had only a few weeks left in Barcelona and I haven't been to more than one museum (Hello, guilty conscience! In my defence: I've visited BCN some years ago and did all the necessary tourist program so no need to do so this time, too). But still, I felt like some culture would be good for me so I made a list of all the places I wanted to visit (MACBA, CCCB etc) and spend some (cloudy) weekends loaded with contemporary art and design, mostly alone but I just can't handle going to exhibitions with people and be either bored because I rushed through it or pressured to do so. I went to see the MACBA, which disappointed me a bit (except for the super-cool design of the building), and the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona), seing two great exhibitions (one of them was the World Press Photo Exhibition and I'd recommend it to everyone, who is at least a bit interested in the society we live in and the current situation of the world!! 

Last weekend I went to see the "Mies van der Rohe Pavilion". It was originally designed as the German pavilion for the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929 and after a dismantling it was re-built in the 1980's. It is so cool and cheap for students so if you're interested in contemporary design and architecture make sure you take a look at it! I know the photos are not the kind of I normally post here but as I said I am up to trying out some new stuff, not only sticking to my habits and so on... I have a few more Barcelona posts coming up and try to take as many photos for some more as possible until I sadly have to leave soon to go back home.

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich dann auch mal mit meinem Kulturprogramm hier angefangen, ich muss zugeben, ich hab in den ersten Wochen Monaten es einfach nie geschafft, mal einen Blick in ein paar Museen und sowas zu werfen, deshalb dachte ich, es würde mal Zeit werden. Also hab ich mir die letzten Wochenenden immer irgendwas von meiner Barcelona-Bucket-Liste vorgenommen und bin los, meistens alleine, was aber wirklich gut war, keiner der mich hetzt oder wegen dem ich 3 Stunden länger bleiben muss, als ich Lust habe. Ich war also im MACBA, was mich aber irgendwie ein bisschen enttäuscht hat, wobei, das Gebäude an sich ist super cool! Und dann noch im CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona), wo ich zwei wirklich gute Ausstellungen gesehen habe, unter anderem die World Press Photo Exhibition, die ich wirklich jedem empfehlen kann, der sich auch nur ein bisschen für die aktuelle gesellschaftliche Lage interessiert!

Letztes Wochenende war ich dann noch im "Mies van der Rohe Pavillon". Eigentlich wurde es nur als deutscher Pavillon für die Barcelona International Exhibition 1929 errichtet und kurz danach wieder abgebaut, in den 1980ern aber wieder original getreu nachgebildet. Es ist ziemlich cool, das graue, schlichte Design, die Kontraste und so weiter also, wenn ihr in Barcelona seid und euch ein bisschen für Architektur und Design interessiert dann setzt das schnell auf eure Liste! Ich weiß, die Fotos passen wieder nicht so wirklich hier auf den Blog, aber wie gesagt, ich versuch einfach mal was Neues, sonst wird das ganze hier ja auch langweilig. Ich versuch jedenfalls bis ich nach Hause zurück gehe noch viele viele Fotos zu machen um noch ein paar weitere Barcelona Posts hochladen zu können! 

20/11 HOTEL ROOM VIEW

Some time ago I told you about a cooperation I was going to do with a hotel group here in Barcelona and noooow I can finally announce that from now on you will find posts from me every now and than on the Praktik Hotels Blog!! I will let you know as soon as my first post is online, until then check out their ambassadors page and find me! :) I am so proud and finally doing a first step towards doing some journalistic work, even if it's only writing as a guest blogger. But more projects will follow soon, I'm so excited and all that, stay tuned!!

Vor einiger Zeit hab ich von der Kooperation mit einer Hotelgruppe hier in Barcelona erzählt und jetzt ist es endlich alles fertig, ich werde immer mal wieder Gastbeiträge für den Praktik Hotels Blog schreiben, ich geb natürlich Bescheid, wenn es soweit ist! Bis dahin guckt einfach mal auf der Ambassadors page vorbei und sucht mich. :D Bin so stolz, eine erste kleine richtige journalistische Arbeit, die nicht nur für meinen Blog ist, auch, wenn es nur ein paar Gastbeiträge sind. Aaber neue Projekte sind auch schon in Planung, meine Motivation ist zurück, stay tuned!!

15/11 THE SHORE

Waking up, the sun shone through the window I immediately decided to go to the beach. It's november and certainly not the best month for sunbathing and going for a swim (at least not here in Europe) but I took a book and even some shorts and sat for 2, 3 hours on a bench by the water. The wind was strong and I missed that so much, for me wind belongs to the sea, it makes me feel so free and it's so calming. I love the sea here how it is now, windy, strong, the water is crystal clear and blue. Some friends joined me later, we sat in the sun drinking Café con Leche, walked around barefoot and I finally had the chance again to take some portraits. It was such a nice afternoon, I try to get outside as often as possible, knowing that a few weeks from now I won't be able to enjoy so much sun anymore. I am so grateful that I got in such a beautiful place for such a long time, Barcelona so took into my heart.

Heute morgen schien die Sonne durchs Fenster und ich konnte mich gar nicht genug beeilen um so schnell wie möglich rauszukommen. Bin ans Meer gefahren und hab mich mit Buch und kurzen Hosen (!) ein paar Stunden ans Wasser gesetzt, es war so schön, windig, sonnig, perfekt. Für mich gehören Wind und Meer zusammen und ich mag es jetzt so viel lieber, das Wasser ist viel sauberer und klarer als im Sommer, der Strand ist fast leer und die Luft ist frisch und salzig. Nachher sind noch ein paar Freundinnen dazu gekommen und wir haben im Sand gesessen und Café con Leche getrunken, sind barfuss rumgelaufen und ich bin endlich mal wieder dazu gekommen, Portraits zu machen. Ich bin so dankbar, so lange in so einer wunderbaren Stadt gewohnt haben zu können, Barcelona wird für immer ein wichtiger Teil meines Lebens und ein bisschen wie ein zu Hause für mich sein.

12/11 CONCRETE WALLS

I realize I tend to only post what I think you would like to see, what you would comment on the most. I have taken these photos quite a while ago and always thought they "wouldn't fit my blog's style" but seriously, I don't want to have a style, I am blogging to improve my skills, to try out new things, to experiment and learn from that. I have to remind myself that my photography "style" is not what I try to be but just what my photography itself is like. I really liked the setting, it's a square next to the MACBA museum, I love the grey clean concrete walls and the geometrical forms of the buildings. // I'm cutting two small videos at the moment that will come up in the following weeks! And also, are you interested to see more posts about my Barcelona Hotspots? Xx

Ich neige dazu, nur das zu posten, wo ich denke, dass es euch gefällt, dass es viele Kommentare bekommt und so weiter. Das ist ein Problem, es hält mich davon ab vieeele viele meiner Fotos nicht zu posten. Die Fotos hab ich vor längerer Zeit aufgenommen und hatte sie nie gepostet, weil ich dachte, sie passen nicht zu meinem "Blogstyle". Aber ich muss mich dran erinnern, dass ich blogge, um meinen Stil zu finden, um zu experimentieren, Neues auszuprobieren, Neues zu lernen. Und mich nicht zu sehr von anderen Blogs leiten lasse. Die Fotos sind auf einem Platz nahe des MACBA Museums aufgenommen. Mitten in der Altstadt trifft man plötzlich auf meterhohe Betonwände, viel Grau und viel viel Platz. Ich find es super cool und würde total gerne da nochmal Fotos machen. // Bin grad dabei zwei Videos zu schneiden, die gibts in den nächsten Wochen zu sehn.
